The metaphysical consciousness of free will
There is a school of thought, (and I am sure it has a name,) which claims that we function via a complex system of electrical signals traveling through a neural network of highways driven by commands from the brain. In a way indicative of computer savviness, it is described as a processing system constantly using input data as well as memory data to determine the next instance and that it provides a feedback loop giving itself the illusion of free will.
Some of us might find this a plausible theory since the idea of an external force of some sort from another dimension controlling or overseeing our behavior is not viable. We would rather see ourselves as a single unit self-propelled and interacting with the surroundings that provide input to the processor in the brain. The feeling of self or free will understood as just a biological idea designed in our system as a feedback loop needed to generate an identity, and when our brain stops working then our identity will no longer exist, we die, and it is all over.
On the other hand, if we are inclined to believe in divine intervention then we would argue that everything or at least some inspiration comes from God or whatever we label that divine intervention to be. We would claim that there is a soul or spirit, or etheric body, that lives in this biological machine controlled by its neuron processor and that when that processor stops working, all of the organic hardware it controls will cease to function, but that the etheric body will regroup into a different energy state at a different location in the world of consciousness.
I can easily accept both yet tend towards the latter.
The first scenario is, that we are simplistically definable as biological hardware with no free will, yet the illusion of such and a neuron computing system, capable of generating self-awareness
The second is that we are entities that live inside this biological machine for a duration of time determined by other forces.
With all of the amazing breakthroughs and technological advancements of the day, we get a better and better picture of ourselves as a living entity. the complexity of our biological body is being unraveled daily as well as the intricate functions of our brain. It would not amaze me that the first scenario is true and that we are just biological computing machines.
Unfortunately, many get lost inside of this biological machine losing touch with their actual being and then have no option but to take on the persona of the machine itself,
In the second scenario, We have to question, what is this which lives inside this biological machine, Spirit, Soul, etheric body, or some other term. One thing is for sure Its existence must be accepted as real in order for some form of a continuum to be possible. whether we are going to heaven or hell or some perpetual cosmic evolution, we can agree, that a vehicle is required to achieve that journey, should we choose to believe this second scenario
I like the Idea of a free me living inside of a biological me even if only for a limited amount of time one that, if used wisely, will prepare me for more journey's to come. A me that has a free will one that is prepared and willing to navigate unknown charters.
In my book The Battle For Consciousness, the term Consciousness Metamorphosis is used to describe the ability to maintain all the accumulated knowledge of this life intact when you leave and access it in your next life, whatever it may be.
Really relished reading this blog. It really reminds me of a saying “Think before you speak”. The mind is a battle field of what we think and put together. Speaking before you think is a bad habit that can get you into trouble and hurt you and others in the most important areas of our life. Our words as we speak or through conversations create a positive or negative reaction in the world around us. I like your point of nourishment, about how Human evolution depends on Information transferred as a means of nourishment and, how conversation plays an important role in supplying that nourishment to this human evolution. Yes, I believe many people are mal-nourished with how they feed themselves with what they read or see. All that stays recorded in your brain, your mother board. You said “Unable to dodge the constant bombardment of information designed to manipulate how I think”. Wow so true! A conversation is sure a “source of information transferred yet needs to be guarded nurtured and protected”. Really like your point, fighting The Battle for consciousness. I definitely, personally need to reboot and reload myself to restart and engage with diligence. Thanks for sharing!
